If you can’t make it to Paris, the next best thing is a visit to Brasserie Jo, Boston’s first and most authentic French brasserie.
As with British pubs or American diners, brasseries are emblematic social meeting and eating places of France. Offering robust cuisine, handcrafted beers and affordable wines in a vibrant atmosphere, brasseries are the social hubs of their neighborhoods.
Under the culinary direction of world-renowned Chef Jean Joho, owner of the acclaimed Everest and Brasserie Jo restaurants in Chicago and the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas, Brasserie Jo has the style and cuisine of classic brasseries throughout France.
"The joy and comfort of being in a brasserie comes from the customers," says Joho. "We encourage large groups of people to gather, enjoy each other’s company and relax over food and drink." Chef Joho's menu offers a variety of light snacks and full meals, with highlights including Uncle Hansi's Onion Tart, Hanger Steak, Pomme Frites, Coq au Vin, Croque Monsieur, and classic desserts like Profiteroles covered in Homemade Chocolate Sauce and the Crème Brûlée, of course. Along with its extensive wine and beer lists, Brasserie Jo pulls in an eclectic crowd of Bostonians at cocktail time with an extensive selection of martinis and the restaurant's signature beer, Hopla, an authentic Alsace-style draft beer.
Brasserie Jo has three main spaces: a French bar, a main dining area with a 1940s look, and a unique "Winter Garden." In addition to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant offers a late-night menu until midnight and serves brunch on weekends. Reservations are highly recommended but not required.
Hotel guests may ask The Colonnade Hotel Boston's 24-hour concierge service to handle their reservations. Valet Parking is offered Wednesday - Saturday from 5:00pm-midnight.
